Embodied Connections Conversation Series, Photographic Landscape Pedagogies
Alyson Agar, Senior Lecturer in Design History, 2024

Alyson Agar, Senior Lecturer in Design History, presents Embodied Connections Conversation Series, a programme of walking and moving conversations in photography across local nature spaces in Hartlepool involving women and gender non-conforming artists and photographers. Responding to the notion of embodied nature-based photographic practice (the creation or generation of photographic imagery of the natural landscape from the natural landscape), participants engage in walking/moving conversations through the natural landscape of Hartlepool, exploring plant-based photographic image-making (anthotypes) in collaboration with other photographic mediums as a method to share stories and good practice around climate awareness. This collaborative approach aims to share stories and promote best practices in climate awareness.

About

PAD (Perspective in Art & Design) is The Northern School of Art’s scholarly activity and research journal; a place for the publication of staff and student academic investigation. Covering issues as diverse as written and practice based research, PAD aims to bring to the fore new ideas, new approaches to existing debates, interpretations on written and visual practice, debates in art and design history, and issues of creative pedagogy. Our goal is to allow scholarly activity to be delivered through equality, where there is no hierarchy between the academic and the student, those with a record of publication, and those who will be shown here for the first time.
